Farnley Tyas WI was closed and reopened in 2009. Currently with 19 members they are an active WI within their community of Farnley Tyas. Recently, they have had speakers at each meeting covering a range of interesting topics: sewing garments for Burberry, authors, artist and wildlife photographer.  The members do hands-on craft demonstrations for other members to learn.  Their yearly Charity of the Year 2025 raised £1200 for The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.  Members are involved in the Farnley Tyas Community Café held every Tuesday and are on hand to help at other Church and village functions.  During 2025 members helped St Lucius Church raise over £700 to adapt and buy sewing machines for a Charity in Africa that enables young girls to learn to sew and sell their craft items. The St Lucius Church ECO Group has four WI members who have worked hard to acquire bronze and silver ROCA awards.  All members are encouraged to be aware of their carbon footprint and climate change.  Six WI members are part of a Knit & Natter evening at the local village pub

During 2025 visits included the ‘Red Dress’ at Oakwell Hall, Salts Mill in Saltaire and a Canal trip.
