President's Welcome As we move cautiously forward towards our new normal and start seeing friends and relatives we can feel a 'spring in our step'. With this in mind, Idle WI committee would like our members to save two future dates: 19th July and 16th August. We are hoping that we will all be able to meet up and further details will follow, taking into consideration the advice we receive. |

Reading recommended by some of our members. The Return by Victoria Hislop (ISBN: 9780755332953) A meticulously researched historical narrative, a cracking historical romance and a splash of self-discovery. Beneath the majestic towers of the Alhambra, Sonia Cameron knows nothing of the city's shocking past. But a chance conversation draws her into the extraordinary tale of Spain's devastating civil war. Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield (ISBN: 9781784163631) An exquisitely crafted multi-layered tale with a cast of characters around the meandering Thames, each drawn into a mystery that reopens old wounds and lays to rest unburied ghosts. On a dark midwinter's night in an ancient inn on the Thames, the regulars are entertaining themselves by telling stories when the door bursts open and in steps an injured stranger. In his arms is the drowned corpse of a child. Hours later, the dead girl stirs, takes and breath and returns to life. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig (ISBN: 9781786892737) A poignant, unique novel about regret, hope and forgiveness - and a library that houses second chances. When Nora Seed finds herself in the Midnight Library, she has a chance to make things right. The books there enable Nora to live as if she had done things differently. With the help of an old friend, she can now undo every one of her regrets as she tries to work out her perfect life. But things aren't always what she imagined they'd be. | |
